“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” — Hans Hofmann

In today’s busy life, it is important to identify the necessary and unnecessary to find time for things that matter. Removing the unnecessary will help us to find room for what is necessary in our lives.

Similar happens when you are designing a product. Adding too many features and unnecessary details in the design will make the product complex. The user will find it hard to focus on the desired features.

Think of your day at work. In a typical working day, you can easily become overwhelmed by many things happening around you. These may include emails, phone calls, messages, meetings, spam, offers, news, etc.

To spend a productive day, you must be capable of distinguishing between necessary and unnecessary. To increase your productivity, and to get more outcomes with less effort, focus on what is important.

Simplicity in UX design matters a lot. It means to eliminate unnecessary elements from your design. It can be a button that is not required, or a lengthy text message displaying extra information.

Designing with simplicity requires a lot of effort. You need to understand what exactly users want and how you can meet their expectations. While at the same time. you are not supposed to add complexity to the product.

It means creating a product that provides features based on the users’ needs while ensuring simplicity. Present the information to the users as per their needs. Reveal product features using a progressive disclosure approach.

Every time we avoid unnecessary drama in life, we start feeling happy. Letting go of negative thoughts makes us feel calm and peaceful.

Similarly, letting go of extra details and redundant options from your design makes your user happy and satisfied.
