Content Precedes Design – Importance of Content in UX Design

Last Updated on November 2, 2023 by UX World

“Content precedes design. Design in the absence of content is not design, it’s decoration.” – Jeffrey Zeldman

Content drives the user experience of the product. Content helps to educate the users about the features of the product and guides them to interact with the user interface.

Users come to use a product and want to achieve the desired objectives. Without appropriate content, this user interaction or user communication with the product is not possible. Therefore, defining the content strategy for your product is as important as deciding the layout, colors, and logos.

The content must be useful, relevant, and valuable. It should guide the user about available options and give a direction to follow. At the same time, content should be engaging so that the user loves to use the product instead of leaving it frustrated.

Design without helpful content is meaningless for the user. Content helps you to build a relationship with your audience. It gives you an opportunity to convey the message and purpose of your brand. Without knowing the purpose of your product and brand, the users cannot become loyal to your business.
